These works are translated by a creative, young girl whose growth was interrupted. The gravity of her pain is buried very deep. This page is an effort to rescue her expressing as God allows, her thoughts as they unfold. Now as she peers through the lens of a woman, she endeavors to free herself. As she taps into those hidden places, a true poet is sure to emerge. I hope as you read, you too will unearth some things inside yourself and with her, continue to grow.

Role Swapping/Universal Love
We give beyond measure, yet our hearts have not ruptured
Unlike the way our bodies are structured
Recipients as we were formed in the womb
Transformed in a sense, once we're paired with a groom
How is it the part seems to act as the whole
Giving was just a portion of our role
Women sacrifice as if it were the only purpose of life
Forgetting it is only PART of our reason for being..
Men must love their wives
As Christ himself loved the church (Tall order)
Wives advised to submit to their husbands
As unto the LORD (Even harder)
How is it our roles get so twisted
As if The Book had never existed
Women in marriage or not, love harder
While men largely take it and run much farther
Seems awfully convenient, this masculine gender
With exception for some gentle souls, no agenda
Seems grossly imbalanced, lopsided proportions
Of men who are true versus those with distortions
Made of epidermis, blood, bone, and tissue
Believe this, we are much more than stamen and pistils
A family of beings created in kind
The intended purpose is for ALL to find
Nurturing, friendship, love, and support
Growth, opportunities to learn what was taught
Self-serving attitudes are hurting society
Dwindling down to the basest variety
We ALL need to love, but there is no balance
Those that do, do it most of all
While others don't bother to do it at all
Humanity moans, but there seems no changing
Empathy wanes, the planet needs rearranging
Time for our roles to be reset
If we act quickly, there is hope for us yet
Stop role swapping, let us all find our place
Make the earth smile and dishonor disgrace
Treat everyone as you would like to be treated
If you act out-of-line our goal is defeated
Remember we are all in some way connected
It happens to us all, if one is rejected
Let those arms spread out wide
You can care greater than you show
Open up your heart where it counts
You can help far much more than you know
Hate is wasteful, but love preserves..
Women are not the only givers out there
So let it be heard
Time is short, let us get it right, on schedule
This world is due for a makeover, God's tossing out the residue
Every person must examine him/herself
Let the cleansing begin
Let the healing break forth
So in the end we ALL win

Homeless Love
I wrote this ages ago.. I would imagine many people can relate to this, especially this time of year.
I wish that I was loved
By the kind of man I could love back
I have no one to talk to
No one to share my life with
Who understands me or even sees me.
It hurts so much I could not even write this for a dozen years.
I have come so close to being in love with someone I thought
was worthy of my love only to discover that they were far from worthy.
How can I live a good life with no place to put my love?
It is roaming around inside me aimlessly
Each go 'round hurts more and more
Creating a chasm deep and marred
Everything that is good about me
Threatens to pursue decay in the marred, deep hole
Replacing my soul
Even after I've had a few books published,
Several inventions placed on the market,
My businesses booming;
I found myself still longing.
What cure does my FATHER have for a wound such as this?
There's no sufficient substitute for life without this kind of love I feel
It needs a sound place to dwell, a safe, comfortable home to flourish and grow in.
Without this, I cease and desist.
Nothing left unless my love can find its home and rest.
I wish that I was loved
By the kind of man I could love back
I have no one to talk to
No one to share my life with
Who understands me or even sees me.
It hurts so much I could not even write this for a dozen years.
I have come so close to being in love with someone I thought
was worthy of my love only to discover that they were far from worthy.
How can I live a good life with no place to put my love?
It is roaming around inside me aimlessly
Each go 'round hurts more and more
Creating a chasm deep and marred
Everything that is good about me
Threatens to pursue decay in the marred, deep hole
Replacing my soul

Help Me Not
They say they want to help me out
While helping themselves, no doubt
To all they can get their sticky fingers on
Despite my troubles, I'm quite the sexy one
A ride here and there
Carry some groceries to my door
Even offer to increase my income
Glance at me with that strange kind of stare
Look into my eyes while smiling with glee
It's apparent that you want more from me
Yet my birthday has passed and you simply forgot
So my dear, shallow friend, please help me not
Don't bother to call nor text anymore
Stop just saying, "hi" or knocking on my door
Stop sniffing around for the presence of a man
It is not your business, step off while you can
You've nothing to offer, you don't aim to please
That cheap cologne scent keeps making me sneeze
The only reward here is from me to you
My time's not to waste, why don't you get a clue
You're just not equipped, it's as simple as that
You want tenderoni, while sloppy and fat
I have tolerated your kind a whole lot
But kind sir, walk away now and please, help me not
Please do not fix my car; Do not lend me your wrench
Do not serenade me from your piano bench
Save your compliments, don't ask me for pics
Don't call when your wife's away, flirting for kicks
Don't drive by my house when you're on your break
Back off, run along now for goodness sake
I really don't need you to tell me I'm hot
You don't stand a chance, so don't risk what you've got
God knows I'm too friendly, and certainly too nice
I have got to shake off all these lames in my life
My father and uncles they will spare you not
So don't make me call them, abandon this plot
You cannot have me, I'm not for sale
If I have to repeat this, I'll end up in jail
THERE Awaits Me
Alone with my thoughts
It is a hard place to do time
I am on this harrowed journey
Where reason has lost her rhyme
My thought-life emerging
Amidst a few waves of challenging thoughts and inspiration
Pulsating wounds leaking fluids to remind me
I'm alone in this
Though I am often in comfort in solitude
I am aware this is one-sided. A one-dimensional slice of peace
Not nearly what the universe intended
Here lies the gulf; its size a few planets wide
My limbs were never meant to leap this far
I am still required to reach it
Galaxies align in expectation my arriving
No broad-feathered wings to glide nor soar
All I need to find it is within
The Bridge of Infinity, closed until life's winter
No form of transport known to humanity's soul around
Not one detour in existence
Only shortcut I have found is least resistance
Surrender to the path most sound and sane
A coarse path of obstacles and circumstance
The road to THERE is through the sacred corridor of pain

Don't Like
I don't like unfinished conversations
Nor dishes in the sink
I do love a certain somebody
Well, mostly the way that he thinks
Not liking that mostly he's absent
Doesn't care enough for contact by phone
Like it less that he would be more attentive
But only if I gave him what HEEEEE would like
Hard to like that I'm in love with someone selfish
Far from right, but I cannot deny I do
Saddest truth of all this is he doesn't love ME
I don't like the fact he doesn't even know me
Perhaps you should also know he doesn't like me
I don't like this situation much at all
The gut-wrenching truth is he only wanted to $%#*&!$ me
So it seems his thoughts at this point really stink!
I don't like mess and clutter
But as a mother, it is part of the contract
Don't like it much at all that he hurt me
Yet in a heartbeat, I would welcome him back!

Intercession
Sweating blood, shedding tears
Eyes lifted up toward the heavens
Standing in the gap for another
Intense emotions that overflow
Powerful spiritual intervention
Connecting strangers and bonding friends
Weeping loudly in supplication
Lying upon the floor with face to the ground
A voice crying out, deep in the wilderness
Forsaking his own needs to bring comfort to a brother
God's love for humanity is clearly seen
In the hour of weakness he sends us a friend
Who will pray down showers of blessings
Heal our hurting hearts to the end
Steadfast and fierce as the lioness
I petitioned our God up above
Undistracted, resigned to my position
Translating their moans with precision
Wrestling with angels on their behalf
Suffering reproach from dark places
Yet, stationary til the job is done..
A calling so few have answered
Only those most sincere would ever go
To the unknown regions of prayer for another
Abandoning needs of their own
Launching out with their swords drawn
Taking on the dark figures waging war
Finding comfort as the last phrase has fallen
Tears begin to dry in an instant
In a whisper, HE confirms HE has heard you
A banner of victory posted upon the soul
Triumph in sight for those you vowed to uphold
An unexpected bonus for diligence is delivered
And your requests also are answered
Though you uttered them not, your burdens are removed.

Warfare
Lights off
Cell phone off
Blinds closed completely
No television or radio
No children at play in the backdrop
No food, no drink
Cleansing (removing toxins)
Bathing to prep the body
Anoint myself from head to toe
Hair tied back
Apply garments
Bibles and concordances out, pens, pad, petitions
My body lying prostrate upon the floor
My voice, solo; bombarding the heavens 'til fire falls

Release the Fire
Since I'm peri-menopausal, let us consider this one a "hot flash in advance."
Moments like this I want to act out because life is too short;
Take life by the horns and render her powerless..
Take life by the horns and render her powerless..
Long enough to seize what matters most to me, to grab hold of it with all my might.. Selah
That I may pour my love upon it so that it drips with my aroma,
Til my love permeates each pore and saturates every cell..
Til my love permeates each pore and saturates every cell..
Press pause and let my mind take flight as on the wings of eagles and soar,
Fulfill every longing and recklessly indulge; until I want no more..
Unleash every passion, explore every whim-- Even exchange a few virtues (with him)..
And exact my revenge on lust, strip it bare and rend it asunder;
Display my powers of love and spark the inferno, tearing its kingdom down..
Display my powers of love and spark the inferno, tearing its kingdom down..
Burning its tower down, we walk away soundly; No hint of this stench from hell
We, hand in hand, leap higher, standing tall we embrace this spell..
We, hand in hand, leap higher, standing tall we embrace this spell..
Step outside of time into our eternity, exploring the force of true love we share,
Abandon the world so far behind us, to pleasure each other without a care..
Awakening changed, we return to time
I give life her keys back, no charge for my crime..
We return to yesteryear with our issues resolved,
Clocks are reset, while the earth re-revolves..
We return to our places; I'm me and he's he,
Our hearts still enraptured, eyes on our love that is yet to be..
Love is eternal; eternity is never late
We have unleashed our passions, because heaven won't wait..

I'm In Love, But..
I ask not for love in return
This is a high order
Not everyone is marked for this
At least not with me
I'm in love, yes
But I'm settling for less
In an attempt to obtain
What matters to me most
Intimacy far greater
Friendship everlasting
Affection is inconsistent, fleeting
Wreaks havoc on the passion
I promise I was not looking for this
It jumped right up and yoked me
Though I labor diligently
To bridle my heart
It fiercely rebels
And defies me
I'm in love, but
The price is so costly
Without thought
Put it all on the line
Bearing my soul to another
Of a truth, cuts so deep every time
I patch up the holes and keep standing
This battle does not end the war
I'm in love, but
It cannot defeat me
Or these wounds remain open
Evermore...

All That You See Is Me

I like to express myself in diverse manners
Speak different languages
Explore new terms and phrases
But every time I speak
Every thought that I share
Is uniquely my own
I am no carbon copy
Original with intent
The "same old" tends to bore me
Not a fan of the mundane
I like to flirt with seeming insane
Take my thought life to the edge
Why bother being creative
To write the same songs in different keys
Tell the same story, use the same theme?
Yes, I prefer to take different approaches
Sample new flavors
Switch up the melodies
The sky is not always the same hue
Not even my skin the same shade
Though my eyes are the size they were at birth
They don't always see the same
Life and love is hidden in diversity
The splendor of which I cherish
The purpose for our creative power
Is to play skillfully with all the elements
Every single paint stroke varies
Our skyline changes daily
Adding many shapes and textures
Makes it more interesting
Like panels on the wall
Color schemes transform a room
To emphasize my character
My mood puts on its costume
Why else would HE provide such an array
Varied personalities, multiple ways to say
I love you, I like, or I do not prefer
I'm not straight off the rack
I'm THEE designer's original
If it's okay for the seasons to change
Then why must I be the same?
When the leaves fall off
Is it not still a tree?
No matter what the genre
Is it not still music?
When the leaves fall off
Is it not still a tree?
No matter what the genre
Is it not still music?
Not placed within a box, but
Tailored to be free, yet ALWAYS, always ME

Just Once, and Then, Again
I love you
I just want to kiss you because life is too short
Just once, and then, again
I long to hold and caress you and squeeze you tight
Memorize every cut of your sculpted frame
Look into your eyes and study your smile
Share some laughs, just you and I; Or even cry with you
Just once, and then, again..
Walk with you hand in hand to breezy shores, barefoot
Just once
Leave passionate prints in the sand with you
Just once
Stay up all night just chatting with you
Just once
Prepare my favorite dish for you
Just. Once.
What it would mean to me if I could, alone
Have all your attention
Just once
Get lost with you
And not rush to find our way
Just once
Play along the earth's landscape
Near the clearest blue waters
Just once
Before the day that I die I hope
To see the world through your eyes
Just. Once. (Pause)... (Sigh)..
I love you
I just want to kiss you because life is too short
Just once, and then, again and again, and. again.

My Love Affair with Music
Vector Image by Gabriella Fabbri
Penetrates my soul so deeply,
Inducing fits of pleasure in all my senses;
Tremors flowing from my brain to the tips of my toes
Brings supernatural healing to all my woes
With peculiar sounds and keys
Sharps, flats, and high g's
Profound basslines, sweet melodies
A rush of winds, brass, and tambourines
There is no time while the music plays
While the iPod sings, my energy stays
Where the treble increases, and stresses stray
And all physical anguish is washed away
Eyes closed, head back, I'm so relaxed
Heart beats in synch, and flows with the tempo
Humming along, or softly singing, then
Falling silent under the spell of the sax
I'm aptly drawn to great compositions
Ascending chords, and smooth transitions
Clever arrangements and chord progressions
I proudly confess, it's my greatest obsession
So rewarding, a song in tune
Sweet as the nectar produced in June
Hypnotizes, as it mesmerizes
A powerful sedative that tranquilizes
Enhanced with vocals in perfect timing
And perfect pitch, the lyrics rhyming
Yes indeed, my favorite pastime
With enormous impact that lasts a lifetime

It Cuts and It Heals (Double-Edged Sword)
My love is like a double-edged sword
Piercing through to the very core
Chiefly for the man that I adore
Since we're not together --
At least, not any more;
We've been apart for way too long
And even though our love is strong
We're paying a price neither of us can afford
Drawing blood on each side of this double-edged sword
All the peaks, all the valleys
The blood, sweat, and tears we have shed
Could not prepare us for all we now endure
It multiplied our suffering instead, this thing I know for sure
Calamity has set it, our lives are flawed
All our pain, a courtesy of this double-edged sword -- called love.

These Waters
Come to my well of water and drink
Consume until you overflow
Recline beneath this gulf of plenty
And the refreshing springs
Take comfort and remove your garb
Be free upon these waters
Dive in without fear, explore the deep
Rehearse the song of the seas
Allow my love to wash over you
Flow freely through your loins
Swim merrily among dolphins
While coral reefs reveal their secrets
Drink, and never find thirst again
Abandon the dry lands of famine
Retreat into this bliss unknown
Discover the depths of our love
Surrender to all creation's groanings
Thoroughly cleanse in streams of passion;
Rejoice with me as this healing river
Replenishes without ceasing
Quench your longing, so carefully hidden
Refill your empty quiver with strength
Relieve your virile appetites
Spray my ponds with your rapturous joy
Rest beside glistening, sapphire rapids
'Neath the showering waterfalls
Surf along the whispering waves
Under the moon's seducing glow
Commune with me where the brooks doth sing
In tribute to love everlasting
Let us dine upon the fruit-bearing trees
As the ever-flowing fountain, emulates my love for thee

No-Escape Clause
I want to say goodbye to you
Move forward from this place
Take all the good I've learned from you
Apply at my own pace
Explore more of the world beyond
Without leaving my heart behind
Sleep soundly through each blue night
No signs of tossing or turning
Trying to sever this shackle of love
That threatens to bind me forever
It is clear as the glass, despite my efforts
I cannot be me without you
Shortcuts were never an option
The direct route I did follow
By-passing each detour around you
I sought to obtain my breakthrough
Entertaining boardwalks and bridges
Tossing pebbles and rocks through meadows
Distracting myself from time to time
In exchanges with other fellows
Somehow my mind, it does get lost
Yet always finds its way
Returning to my affections and interests
Your visage won't go away
Waterfalls in the cool of the day
Profoundly how you soothe me
The breath of life whispers in the night
Your morning thoughts float through me
My desperate prayer is to escape
As the leafy tree hides our shadows
Remain fully me in your absence
Despite the surging billows
The die is cast, Cannot turn back
My heart has been arrested
The sentence is set, For life it stands
Love, already tried and tested

New Season's Breeze
Out in the sun and its scorching rays
Sting each surface in its path
Every seat is a hot one burning
Even under shade you feel sun's wrath
It beautifully shines and glistens upon the seas
The birds loudly chirping while gardens sing
And ever so often a hint of breeze stops by
To remind us we're in Spring

Cyber Cat Claws
Are you despising my journey
Does your story pale by comparison
Are you troubled by my words
Because they swallow up your own
Recognize you are but a novice
You're not fit to walk in my shoes
But I would never laud it over you
Or deny you respect that is due
This is not a contest of wit
You know not whereof I speak
Don't be deceived thinking you can interpret my path
Even though I allow you a peek
In cyberspace we all are equals
Expressing ourselves as we will
If you use this space as a spotlight
It is apparent; oh very clear, you cannot shine elsewhere

Cry to the Gods

This garment of passion is custom-fitted
It was painted upon my flesh with ease
Will not dissolve with any fluid or solution
To remove it would part the skin from the bone
Must be some predestined purpose for this
The season is ripe for exploring anew
Is there one fashioned like him
Ready to embrace and receive
To respond in kind with matching desires
Fulfill the longings of my soul with care
Or will You turn his heart toward me
Cause his eyes to unveil the light upon me
As these petals from the first spring blossoms unfold
Shall the cold winds of rejection cease
Doth Aphrodite awaken at my beckoning
Summon the heart of my muse to arousal
Will Hera stay the storms and rains
While our courtship doth commence
Is there some agreement
Amongst the heavens
That necessitates my suffering
The conclusion thereof proving much sweeter than grief
Has Eros intervened relaxing my sorrows
Ordering affections my heart deserves
Will his fervor and zeal toward me result in adoration
If not, why doth this craving linger and suffer me to be heavy with tears
Is there some work that we must finish
Collaboratively conquer or later pursue
I bid you make it plain before me
Allow my footsteps a pattern of glee
For my loyalty to his allegiance threatens to undo
Let this cup pass before my time is due

Why Should I
He says he wants to see me in a way that he shouldn't
why should I let him, Why should I
What purpose does it serve for ME to do what he wouldn't
He has no intention to respond in kind
Yet expects me to unveil my hidden beauty
Is there some grand result to this, some treasure to find
Will he be mine? Or simply gaze at my luscious booty
We are but strangers we've not even met
He feels my attraction is dripping and wet
He knows that I'd like to swallow my pride
Let him into my world, place his jewels inside
This is some triple-X kind of excitement
I really don't mind if he gives me delight(ment)
But the game that I'm playing is a game for keeps
He seems to have more than one place where he sleeps
I cannot allow this dear charmer to play me
Although I am tempted to let that man lay me
If I do let him see, I know he'll want to taste
No man in his right mind lets this go to waste
But I really want more, not trying to settle
Like passion, desire, and a bed of rose petals
Do not get me wrong I am hot for some nookie
But not at the expense of my valuable cookie
So he wants to see and, I know that he shouldn't
Why should I let him
Though I want to, I couldn't

Heaven-Sent Valentine
I didn't have a valentine
So God made a special delivery
He planted you inside my heart
So I could have good company
Your positive light, enlightening soul
Great comfort for the weary
Your words, manifold-petalled roses, which
Escort me to my trundle and into the night
Accompany me as I greet every new sunrise
Cradle me in the deepest of sorrows
Sweet relief your visage brings
Sun rays on a platter served fresh to me daily
Encapsulated in all pleasantries
That are exchanged between us
I imagine a kiss from your lips would be
Sweeter than all the candy in the world
Melting into your arms, I'd revert to the days
When I was a girl who needed to be held
With tears rolling down my face
I'd hold you back and hold on tight
Today you are my valentine, dear heart of mine
Divinely selected, and just in time
It was not by accident we met
Your essence is something I'll never forget
Moreover my soul will not rest until
We stand face to face, while the world stands still
A stare into your piercing brown eyes is what I need
To inhale your manly fragrance would revive my heart
God knew just how much your presence would mean
Heaven gently steered you in my direction
You graciously obliged and made room for me
Truly grateful that you acknowledge my affection.

The Catcher's Heart
by Stephannie Reed
(Twitter: @love_epiphany)
I'm the only one who holds the key
To unlock your alluring mystery
The one who can see your soul
Who can read every page of your book of pain
The story you never told with your lips
But was told with your rejection and fear
And just when you least expected it
Something real and tangible stepped in
And made everything clear
Even if you don't open a door
All I ask is that you give me a window...
To let what's inside of my heart come in
And touch you where you need it the most
Close your eyes for a second... Can you hear what I hear?
That's the sound of your heart beating. Or wait, is it mine?
No, it's ours. Because two became one.
So go ahead and fall. It's safe in these arms.
And you can have all of me. I'll do you no harm.

Sade 'Soldier of Love' Tribute (Short Poem)
I should have known the Long Hard Road
To love could never Be That Easy
It would take much more to Bring Me Home
Perhaps, In Another Time
When the Morning Bird sings sweetly upon my windowsill
When the wind against my Skin doesn't feel cool to the touch
And the warmth of life embraces me inward
Right now
This is The Safest Place for me
Under The Moon and the Sky of Atlanta
Where tragedy in the life of my Babyfather
Turned me into a Soldier of Love.

Grace and Peace Be Unto Haiti
My hearts cry for Haiti
For every soul,
Is the one thing everyone needs
If they would be whole
Let Your peace supercede all their suffering and pain
Love replenish all they've lost through the stress and the strain
Please send more of your laborers who are your very best
To help them bear it and be strong, rescue all in distress
Great with mourning is Haiti
Groanings and sorrows unknown
May they reap timely blessings
For every tear sown
Father, God up in the heavens
Watch over our dear friends
In ever corner, ever crevice
Where this tragedy began
Let them wake soon on a morning
Where the sun is smiling proud
With a dance in their hearts
And a song that shames the clouds
May your grace be upon them
Many hard days ahead
May your peace surpass their turmoil
As they bury their dead
In the wake of this disaster
Let humanity wake
This is everyone's loss
Caused by random earthquakes
We all must be active
In sharing their load
Give as much as we can spare
Til each survivor meets their goal
No strangers to triumph
Haiti shall rise once more
And rejoice in abundance
Leaving none of them poor

HE
There is a space in me that only he can capture
A void in me that only he can fill
Vacuum-shaped and fashioned like him
Only his touch completes, moves, and heals
In the fulness of time I found him
More accurately, he found me
My inherent greatness
Has found liberty
My quality of life soars
In his company
The evidence of which is seen
In the way that I love, give, and speak
He shares divine secrets
When no one is watching
He gives me great gifts,
Which no one can see
Swoops in with great joy
When I feel like crying
Knows all of my failings
But loves me through it all
There is no one like HIM
HIS name above all
The Anointed One, JESUS
El Shaddai, the Prince of Peace
King of Kings and Bread of Heaven
Root of David, Emmanuel
The one to whom all knees will bow
Will not be long now, we're near the end
Many infallible truths
Seem to flood through my mind
How many miracles he sent my way
Not one friend could I find
Those who offered lip service
When good winds blew my way
Revealed their true colors
Once tragedy came
My Constant, my Keeper
Ne'er once left my side
Always ready to sustain me
Through tempestuous tides
Yes HE is my refuge, my comfort, my stay
HE listens closely when I sing and I pray
My Choice, No Regrets
Made a conscious decision to love you
Not because you are great
My intuitive nature has discovered in you
Rare quality that is innate
An ability clearly uncommon to man
Effluent without effort
Genuine far beyond measure
My attraction to substance draws me
Yet your mysteries unnerving
My verdict at this juncture is stayed
Infused with deep affection for you still
My grandest euphoria delayed
Quite simply, I've chosen to love you
You have flaws like all men I have known
My instincts say that you are special
Unique is in your DNA
Obviously you're not like other men
Something wonderful flows from you naturally
It is so real, it cannot be challenged
My taste in great quality captures my attention
You're so like a puzzle... no, more like a maze
I reserve my opinions about who you are
Still I am in love with you
Opportunities to show you are very far
But it is my choice, I have no regrets
My fascination with you keeps me sane
I'm allowing myself to feel as I do
For I may never feel this again

While It Rained
We held each other all day through the rain, in one thousand different ways
Each time we changed positions we fit like a puzzle
Though our garments came between us, we couldn't be closer
Our goal, comfort; our need was rest
Snuggled up tightly
We sighed in relief
Ever so often we'd glance at each other
Into each other's eyes to savor our glee
Snapshots of bliss stored in our subconscious scrapbook
Our foreheads and noses often touching
Smiles and giggles and kisses exchanged
Soothing caresses, so healing and pure
What is lust but a cheap comparison
We shared something much deeper and true
All day long while it rained
Sounds of Sade in the backdrop
The aromas of love filled the air
With a hint of cinnamon and citrus too
Nuts, fruits, and the ripest of berries
A sumptuous share of fine delicacies
Not a hint of strong drink anywhere in our home
Our chemistry, intoxicating power alone
Sustained and extended our simplest pleasures
We hardly noticed the rain at all...
Puckered lips flirting with passion
Fingers taking refuge beneath our layered vestments
Peeling off a few to change up the textures
We kept ourselves busy
Yes, well entertained
We made the sun shine, and all while it rained..

How Long?... And to What End?
How long will this intense longing encage me?
Dear God, will I ever break free?
I wake up everyday and I try not to think of him
Maybe one day I won't
That is the lie I tell myself
I know this will not escape me
This love is so much bigger than me
I'm eager to learn of its purpose
A one-sided affair brings no comfort to me
It is a curse which leaves me always yearning
Seems so unfulfilling and really quite cruel
I know he is somewhere laughing
But I'm not my ego, I will not hide
Embarrassed but honest til the very end
So strong and so real, though
I'm wishing it wasn't
Tis really not useful
Me loving this way
Perhaps you can help, Lord
Please raise up another
This time make him one who will love me right back
Bestow upon me a true love that makes sense
Instead of scenarios leaving me wounded
Far too often filled with lots of regret
How long will this last?
And tell me, to what end?
Will we both have some common endeavor?
This is sapping my strength
And it's making me weak
Just this once, can I steer my own passion?
Let me not love again
Nothing more than a friend
So my dignity returns in good fashion

The Chain-Snatcher
On the New York City Subway
One weekend afternoon
Alone I sat near the exit
At the end of the subway car
One woman sat across from me
But she was reading a book
The others, not far were unaware
So they didn't bother to look
We stopped at a Harlem station
Not many people boarded
And within a matter of seconds
My countenance was guarded
The doors opened up and
A strange-looking male
Reached into the train
And got hold of my chain
He tried hard to pull it with seconds to spare
But I held on and yelled and no one seemed to care
The doors started closing and he ran away
And my guardian angel had saved the day
This gold chain was thin, one could easily break it
Yet all these years later dear LORD, I still have it
Now it is nearly two whole decades after
That eerie encounter with that old chain-snatcher
I tried telling people that were on the train
They looked over at me like I was insane
But the picture below is the key to explain
Why that man was not able to take my gold chain

Breathe
Venetian blinds closed
Shut off the music
Disconnect the cable box
Unplug the phones
Shut down your laptop
Turn off the lights
Head toward the bed
Remove your shoes
Lay down upon it
Close both your eyes
Relax those muscles
And just breathe...
Breathe strong and long
Breathe tall and wide
Allow your thoughts to flutter away into nothingness
Exhale the stresses of the day
Inhale positive energy and vigor
Envision nothing just allow yourself to feel well
Appreciate the silence and listen
As clarity fills your mind and instructions from heaven flow
Just breathe... and let life be!

Belly of the Beast
I'm in the belly of the beast
The darkness here is obscene
Coals of fire for concrete
Death does not come when you want it
Though you beckon, it tarries
Its music, deafening screams swallowed up in silence
Yea means nay and night removes the daylight
Like resembles hate and
Destruction is encased in dreadful bliss
The memory of love is consumed
In its absence chaos runs rampant
Comfort is found in defeat
I have no voice, no water for tears
Pure agony, my weariness is rest
Pain camouflaged in pleasure
No meat, no drink
Only fire embraces
No childlike visage to brighten the soul
Buried so deeply no vision of earth
The galaxy hides its face from me
There is no sunlight and no song

Rejected
When you don't play the way that he wants you too
Neglected
If you are sincere and open, but he wants you to hide it
Ignored
Yet he'll still keep an eye on you
Insulted
When he feels challenged by you, and clearly does not measure up
Bewildered because you're loving him
And can't understand why he won't love you back
Rejected
Time for changing perspective; 'Cuz YOU want him
But he's not the man GOD elected
Empowered
Those who refuse to settle for love minus excellent treatment

My Purpose
This is no secret, just not for you to know
I feel no need to announce, to prove, nor show
It is no business of yours who God called ME to be
So long as you know (where you reside) if you're where YOU should be
God's purpose for me is HIS own intricate plan
When HE made this decision HE did not consult man
In HIS divine wisdom,
HE planted an incorruptible seed
Before I stepped into my mother's womb
God had already defined me
There really is no need to question
Just observe and you will see
Upon the execution of tasks
Just what HE's made of me
Once time has married eternity, and death is swallowed whole
When this old earth has been reborn, heaven receives her new role
It shall be known all mysteries, at once it will unfold
Behold, the unveiling will make it plain; each plan God manifest
To all God's chosen who overcame each trial, passed every test

In Love with a Stranger
I love a man I do not know
Apart from what he makes me feel
Tis strange I know, but it is truth
My affections toward him are very real...
He is the most beautiful man I have ever laid eyes upon
A gorgeous specimen I long to meet
In my mind I often imagined that
Coming together would be so good, so sweet.
I cannot shake this feeling about him
That he is better than he seems
I want him to be a part of me
Not only in my dreams
He's with me everywhere I go
I cannot escape his influence
There's nothing I wouldn't do to get
A chance to be in his presence
To behold him face to face
Alone in a room where there are no distractions
Just him and I standing eye to eye
Free to explore our passions
The setting is pure with white all around us
Barefooted we stand both scantily clad
Becoming acquainted we hold up our hands barely touching
Electricity so potent it surrounds us
Now stepping in closer he touches my shoulders
Slips into a strong and firm embrace
I step into it wrapping my arms around his back
Pressing gently upon his chest with my face
His scent, my scent, our sweet-smelling union
More powerful than I had hoped we would be
Before our lips shared their first communion
Our souls held a conference and they too, agreed.

Mind Your Own Manners
I applied this earlier to the use of Twitter, but this is applicable in every aspect of life. - ♥
It is not for you to say what one should and one shouldn't
nor is it your appointment to determine what one would or one wouldn't..
Your opinion of what one should share doesn't matter,
be it important topics or idle chatter
It is none of your affair let them say what they will
Best you mind your own conduct, step aside and be still
Never make the mistake of putting yourself in God's space
He alone is the leader, now stay in your place
Take comfort in the fact that it is not up to you
to judge or determine what others should do.
"It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own."
Thomas Jefferson
