For Worse, In Sickness, I'm Here

He falls for me continuously
Seeming to never grow weary
He misses me so when we are apart
But also when he is near me

His face lights up when I come in
Surprised and so very thrilled
Refers to me as his Sunshine
A picture of true love fulfilled

We visit for hours, he begs me to stay
But honey I have to be going
My phone starts to ring before I get home
But that is his loneliness showing

My phone rings again, just before I turn in
Before sleeping he must hear my voice
I indulge him as often as he needs me to
With great patience for I have no choice

He makes promises; plans, often as he can
Preparing for when he gets better
I tell him, my dear I'm not going nowhere
I'll stand by you, no matter the weather

I want young ones to know, that true love's not shown
When all things in your life is easy
It is tested and tried, but can only survive
When you've conquered the storm's bitter seasons

Treacherous winds may blow all around
You will find yourself standing on love's higher ground
It will cover and keep you, bring comfort and strength
If you can endure many hardships at length

For worse, in sickness, calamity and pain
True love will see you both through to the end
No matter the loss, the toil, the shame
When it is real, you can find love all over again

The message here that I hope to teach
Is one that so few of us measure
What is oft found in looks or material things
Is the counter-appearance of treasure

We cannot predict what life will bring
Perseverance comes with character
What remains after everyone else deserts you
Will reveal what truly matters

Come Fix It

Amazing how some people manage to protect their own interests. Have you ever discovered someone in your life was keeping tabs on you without your knowledge or consent? This addresses a similar situation.

Handyman, can you come and fix it
Don't delay, this bolt is a misfit
Please be skillful, bring your tools
Nothing more, don't be a fool

For some time, though there be more than one
A single person consistently comes

To service this client when there is a need
No one else shows up, as if by decree

All complaints from this one femme
Are only ever handled by him
The calls are few and far in-between
Hoping another skilled worker is seen

But with each new repair that has to be made
The same handyman always comes to her aid
Her only concern is that each job is done
For him each encounter with this belle is fun

He smiles, laughs displaying his charm
Then tries to take her into his arms
When rejected, he smiles with great delight
He embraces the challenge, he's up for the fight

But the battle he seeks can never be won
This jolie dame will soon be gone
She plans to leave without a trace
In hopes to nevermore see his face

Your request to come fix it
You need to be armed
Clothed fully in armor
Prepared to disarm

If you are attractive
Then you can expect
Those in this profession
To show disrespect

Unless you are clear and precise on the matter
Delinquents like these will create such a clatter
Be firm, be brief, stand back, let them work
For a hint more of kindness turns men into jerks!

Discovery

A funny thing happened on the way to her mailbox.

Was anything real between them
Or was it just game

She went walking and saw him afar off
Chatting with a woman in an SUV

He was leaning into her car window
Up close and personal, they chuckled

He saw her approaching and changed his posture
Then lifted his chin to her as she passed by

She didn't respond but got a glimpse
Of the woman staring back at her

Seething with envy, filled with outrage
She came to terms with that discovery

Then she devised a plan
To rid herself of that philandering man

Their paths crossed again minutes later
He seemed numb and distracted with sadness

He got into his truck, glancing over at her with caution
She kept walking as if he was not there

Discovery; appalling to the woman who makes it
Woe be to the man, for her wrath will be scathing.

We Did It

We did it
Took over a year
But we came to an agreement

We decided to spend time
Did not cost a dime
So we did it

Openly, he came to me in secret
We were no longer fighting
He asked me to do it

This time I would not argue
He stretched out his arms
So we could do it

We did it
Became a team
We reconciled; no smoke, but steam

The barriers between us broken
We came together with pleasure
And sealed it

Now a bond was formed
Not easily broken
Because we did it

With stress and strain removed
Parting is never easy
But we do it

We did it
Broke through another layer
It just got deeper
